Josh and I.....

My pre-game nap has really changed. Nice adddition though!

The Germans.....

Thought I would add this from last nights game. This was an introduction to Karnaval that begins at the end of February. Karnaval is one week long and is basically a party for the German people to drink. They take time off of work and I believe you get a statuatory holiday anyways. There are parades, songs, each village has there own party, etc. Everyone gets into costume like the people below. We will show you more when it actually begins.

Weigh in.....

I always swore that I wouldn`t be that guy who posts 1000 pictures of his baby. I`m still trying to avoid this but I promise that I won`t make anyone watch any home videos when we return! I just had to post this after the midwife (Dorothy) weighed him today. He has only dropped 0.1 kgs which is great.

Baby Update......

Thought I would send out a mini update for everyone checking. Well, the first night was what we expected. It was long and frightening. There is nothing quite like a piercing cry at 2am to welcome you into parenthood. I have always heard people complain about watching bad TV late at night trying to put their child to sleep. Well, I beat all of you that have ever complained. Try watching Knightrider, Magnum PI and Quincy M.E all in German at 3am. Josh and I agreed that we should put the 80`s behind us. Anyways, Jess is doing great at being a mom and I am growing more comfortable with things. The mid-wife comes every day for an hour or two to make sure we are fine. It is a HHUUUGGGEEE help to have her around to answer our questions. She agrees that young Joshua was blessed with the Davis nose.
We will keep you posted as we continue to endure the long nights. It is a good thing that Jess and I have trained our bodies these last two years to stay up past 2am. It`s just that we can`t sleep in until 12 anymore!

Joshua James.....

Jess and Joshua arrived home today at 3 o`clock. Both of them are doing well and Jess is glad to be home. This is Josh in his 70`s leisure suit. It just so happens that his dad came home from the hospital in the same outfit.

New Baby Boy.....

Well, JOSHUA JAMES MORTIMER (Davis family male tradition) DAVIS arrived today in Germany at 8:13pm. He weighed 3.2 kgs and is 49 cms long (you do the European conversion). Jessie is doing great along with the baby. I have never been more proud of my wife than at this time. She is an absolute trooper. This is our son! This is Jess and I 20 minutes after the birth. The midwife ordered us pizza, so we had the first Davis family meal together. The baby is in between facing us.
This is Jess right after her water broke. Thought I would bring you details from the entire day. This may not be on tomorrow when she comes home.
This is Jess and Josh 5 minutes after the birth.
Jess took this before we left for the hospital. Thought I would put in a picture of Super Dad (ha ha ha ha). I don`t think I could`ve carried any more to the car.
I am picking Jessie up tomorrow at 2:00 from the hospital after my practice. She will be back home with our son tomorrow afternoon!

JESSIE......

Jessie`s water broke today at 6:30am. We are making our way to the hospital very soon. Please pray for her and the babies safety. The funny thing is that I may be writing that the baby is born before any of you get up since it is already 12:30am your time!

No baby yet.....

NO, the Baby hasn`t come yet but my face last night explains how I am feeling. Not going on the road trip tomorrow in case the baby comes. Can`t miss my firstborn!

Baby Stuff.....

We thought we would put up some pictures of the baby things we received from the team. The crib we got was a little big, so we put the smaller bed inside. This makes me feel a little safer, like I won`t step on him. It really feels like an invasion of your space. Before you know it everything you own is for the baby! This is the bathroom change table. We also have the tub on the right. We are lucky to have a bathroom the size of 2 Canadian ones. The team also bought us a brand new change table for the guest room. Everything is ready now but the funny thing is when we come home, we start over with nothing!

Final Belly Shots.....

Jessie was cleared today by her doctor to have the child. We are no longer delaying the process and waiting with anticipation for the big moment. Something tells me that I will be on the ice when the process begins but I hope not. Anyways this is Jess at 37½ weeks.Big Frontal Shot!

Hockey....

This is a picture from a couple of games ago. It was in the newspaper so I posted it. I hit the guy in the corner and pushed the back of his helmet up over his eyes. After the whistle he came at me and said `If you ever push the back of my helmet up again I will kill you.` That is when I asked what he would do if I pushed it from the front. I then pushed his helmet back, grabbed his face and laughed at him. For those of you that know me, the Justin Davis smirk can be quite irritating.

Raclette Dinner....

This is the late night dessert. Everyone brought some desserts and snacks. There was Apple Crisp, Strawberry Cheesecake, Banana Bread, Nacho Dip, etc. This was our Raclette Dinner. For those that don`t know, it is basically like fondue but much better. Choose your ingredients (bread or potato) and then add the toppings (peppers, pickles, tuna, salami, ham, shrimp, cheeses, etc.) You then cook it yourself in your little place (below the wooden spoons). It was great because you continue eating and talking for hours.

Dance Party....

Well, after the New Year came the dancing began. This is Janne and his daughter. Unfortunately, she is learning his moves at a young age! This is Marc, Janne and Tommi. I put this in because:
A) I don`t know many men who can do the splits.
B) Everyone can see Jess doing a classic knee slap and laugh out loud in the background

This is Jess taking over the party with her moves to Madonna`s new song. Pretty good disco moves for a woman in her ninth month. Not like Jess to be the centre of attention at a dance party! Really don`t know what I am doing in the back. Davis dance genes I guess. I apologize!

Sami`s girlfriend Simone. Don`t know if she is enjoying this or not!

Really can`t explain this!

(Really defines the saying `Hanging from the Rafters`)

You really haven`t celebrated New Years until you`ve thrown in some Europeans! It was one of the best New Year`s ever.

People at the New Years Gig.....

This is Marc, our goalie, and his girlfriend Alex. Marc went to Nelson High School in Burlington for a year when he was seventeen. They went to the OFSAA Finals. Very good goalie and very normal for the position! These two were voted best looking couple at the party for 2006. We`ll put the trophy beside the 2005 one.
This is Ole and his girlfriend Bianca. Ole played Junior hockey in Sudbury for a year. His experience was a little different than Marc`s on Oakville Dr. in Burlington. He lived with French Canadians with limited English skills on a farm. Anyways, very nice guy and he speaks flawless English. Marc and Ole made it easy for me to adjust and fit in at the beginning and have become good friends.
Of course, this is Erika. She was energetic up until midnight.
This is Janne, Sami and Tommi (Janne`s friend). Needless to say, I look like I have been to Mexico for two weeks beside the three Finns!

2006 Maternity Wear..

Thought I would post some pictures of Jess from last night. She looked very good in her Maternity Party Dress. She`s a good looking pregnant woman! This shot is a little risque with a lot of shoulder showing. This is contemporary pregnant.
